This wasn’t planned.
When we decided to partner with OneWord 365, we envisioned each of us individually offering up our own words. And that’s happening. (I knew it would be something meaningful, but I wasn’t prepared for it to take my breath like it has. Join us! )
What we hadn’t considered in the planning of this was that perhaps we should choose One Word for all of us. A word to cast our vision here Velvet Ashes for 2014. We didn’t plan or ask for a word, and yet it came.
The inspiration sparked, it latched on like One Words do.
So here it is…
CREATE
I feel it in our veins already. We’re catching our stride, we’re stretching our wings, and Velvet Ashes, we are here to CREATE.
We’re here to create a song, an anthem of His love. Do you hear it rising? Rising from the corners of the world. He loves us, he loves us…
We’re here to create a story, pages of global sisterhood. A story of courageous hearts, weak and weary, linking arms to pull each other along. Your story, your life, your day… it matters.
We’re here to create a haven, a place where you put aside those masks, where you say when you’re not okay. You are not alone, dear one.
We’re here to create a call, a challenge to dig in, to find our brave voice, and to let it ring clear. You, yes you, have something to share.
We’re here to create beauty. Because filled up with love and grace and truth and life, you’re beautiful, and beauty flows from you.
This year is our year to CREATE.
And it’s already happening. Have you seen the glory of One Words whispered into hearts and poured out, a fragrant offering? We’re waiting for yours…
With the Creator himself, through his fingertips, we are creating here. As we move together through 2014, may we look and say, “It is good.”
Join our chorus of One Words here.
As you step into the new year, what are you longing to create?
ummm, wow!! First this line brought me to tears “A story of courageous hearts, weak and weary, linking arms to pull each other along.” yep, that’s exactly what I need.
Second, this idea of create has been brought home to me in the last couple of months. I remembered that I need to create something other than just food. I need to be intentional about picking up the camera, writing, knitting, painting. My soul was drying up. It needed to flow…so create, I like that. A lot.
Liz, Are you the Liz that is in Costa Rica? If so, would you email me? I have an invitation for you! ccmitch.serendipity AT gmail DOT com
Colleen! I am the Liz in Costa Rica 🙂 I’ll email you right now 🙂
So excited you two can connect!!
Yes, yes! Creating revives the soul. Love what you created with your One Word “Peace.” So glad you’re here, Liz. Here’s to linking arms and creating!
I long to create words that encourage others and give them a glimpse of God.
Debbie, my heart echoes your longing! I hope you’ll find Velvet Ashes a place to do just this.
This is so beautiful. Yesterday here took my breath away. The fresh honesty, the real listening, the visits to one another’s spaces…it was soul healing and life giving for me. I cannot wait to create together with you all here this year.
I know!! Truly, truly amazing. Rejoicing with you over the soul healing and life giving that’s happening here.
What a beautiful descriptor of Velvet Ashes, Colleen! Thank you being part of the community!
I love this idea and so happy to be part of this community (and building up the confidence to contribute). Creativity has always been something I’ve admired but never something I felt I truly possessed. I would gaze on longingly as people allowed their creative flow ooze out for display and admiration and I would reflect on how lovely it would be to have the ability to do something like that.
Our urge to create reflects back to the fact that we are made in the image of God, the Almighty Creator. Reflecting on Him brings out an inspired urge to make beautiful things to bring Him glory. It is not to please others, rather it is to allow that beauty, that is from our Father, permission to flow out in unimaginable and spectacular ways.
To create allows yourself to become venerable. I know my words that I pen down can be fumbled, as they are filled with flaws and imperfect rhythm, but I desire to take risks and bear witness of His creativity.
Only recently have I began again in using words to create pictures of thoughts and ideas that He places on my heart. I look forward to seeing what artistry will flow out of such an inspiring group of women.
Your words truly resonate with me, because in the past I never would have called myself a creative person. It’s only been in seeing myself made in the image of the Creator, that I’ve found creativity. It’s only in taking risks, in letting go of perfection, that creativity begins to flow. I love that you’re finding this too, and that you gained the confidence to contribute! I hope we’ll be hearing more from you and this journey you’re on. Welcome, friend.
So glad you are here, Meagan! I’m looking forward to hearing more from you as you take risks to contribute what He’s poured into you!
