Have You Seen? {August 2, 2015}

Welcome to Have You Seen?  We’ll review last week and share other posts from around the web. Enjoy rest and renewal while you cozy up for some soul-food reading.

Last Week’s Theme: Enjoy

Enjoying the God Who Ignites the Stars by Elizabeth Trotter — “I looked up and saw the biggest planet in our solar system, right overhead. And I am not kidding you, in those moments I felt like God had made Jupiter just for me. I couldn’t stop staring at Jupiter those nights in Mondulkiri, on a mountain made of red dirt.”

Every Life Is Different Because You Passed This Way {Book Club} by Amy Young — “Reading this book with you had impacted me greatly. Thank you. As I look back and to bring this to an end, these are my three main takeaways . . .”

Questions That Make Me Sigh by Jenilee Goodwin — “I sigh because my list is full of things I love to do. I have many, many things I enjoy. I have an unending list of favorite things. I sigh because although my lists are long… the things on my list are often far away. Living cross-culturally takes me far away from many of the things I love and forces me to live far away from the things I enjoy.”

What Do You Enjoy? {The Grove: Enjoy} by Amy Young — “Since enjoying is about taking pleasure or delight in something, I thought we could connect over what we enjoy and get to learn a little bit about each other. I’ve written 10 questions around the topic of enjoying. I’m going to list them here so if you want to just cut and paste the questions, you can and I’ll answer them below.”

From Around the Web

For those who need a reminder that Moving is Not the Magic Solution and need Hope in the Journey.

When You’re Called to a Ministry of Tears.

We know this one wellThe Dreaded Christian F Word (Fundraising).

“And people say things. A constant run of examinations of our belongings, our needs, our wants, our lives. And not one person means anything by it… I know they are natural, curious questions! So please don’t feel bad if you’ve said something to us. Really. Yet…The garage sale feeling exists.” Because our stuff is no longer personal.

What Everybody Ought To Know About Stress.

And Now for Next Week

The Theme is…

serving single

This week we kick off a three week extravaganza we’ve been planning for ages. One of our strengths is not only do we help each other with tips for folks in their first year, nod in understanding over culture clashes, cheer one another towards health, and enjoy much of our lives and each other. One of our strengths as a community is that we see and value all of us.

With this in mind, we are going to take a three weeks to champion, listen to, and value those who are serving single, married abroad, and mothering TCKs. Regardless of what category you’re in, each week we believe you’ll have moments of “me too!” and “Wow, I hadn’t thought of that.”

We’ll kick of this series next week with singles. You know we believe that connection is what makes any information meaningful. So, we’ll meet up at The Grove on Thursday beginning at 6pm EST. We’re look forward to connecting with you over Serving Single.
