Have You Seen? {August 8th, 2021}

We are a community of women living and serving abroad–and we would love for you to offer your words here. We’ll be richer for hearing from you. There are still openings for guest post submissions for our upcoming themes! Check out our Submissions Page for all the details.

Last Week’s Theme: Women and Church

There is Room in the Body for Different by Ruth Potinu—” In our pain and our weakness we get to support each other. The diversity of the body makes it that much more rich and flavorful.”

An In-Between Place {Book Club} by Amanda Hutton—”In These Nameless Things, we don’t know much about what happened on the other side of the mountain, but we do know that it was traumatic and that Dan made the regrettable decision to leave his brother behind.”

Beautiful Feet by Megan Ingvoldstad—”We are women who have been given the gift of cultural perspective. It is a blessing to be used for the church. We come from the vantage point of having lived in cultures outside our own.”

How the Church has Challenged Me by Cosette Wang—”I still find myself in a state of learning and wrestling, but I thank God for how he is using my Chinese brothers and sisters to challenge me.”

And Now For Next Week

The theme is…

We are so grateful for the ways that care for overseas workers has grown and developed over the years. We are resilient and brave, but we are also human and our souls need tender care.

It’s this beautiful balance, isn’t it? Jesus is truly the shepherd of our hearts and ultimately, we thrive when we run to him over and over. Mentors and counselors and member care providers turn our eyes to the Healer, while also journeying with us through the difficulties in our lives.

This week we are talking about member care, and the important role it has in our lives as cross-cultural workers. We are also SO excited to launch registration for our 2nd Unplugged Retreat and you will get to hear stories of God’s goodness and faithfulness in the moments when we get away with Him. Watch for information on our website and social media with all the details!

How has member care played an important role in your life? What are the unique needs for women within member care? We don’t have all the answers but we can’t wait to chat with you!

We have loved our partnership with GRC over the last few years! GRC is now Valeo, and they are here for global workers to walk with you and provide licensed professional counseling and psychiatry services. Check out their new website and learn more about the beautiful meaning of their name. They are also offering a free initial assessment to anyone starting the intake process in August! Learn more at valeo.global.
