Last Week’s Theme: Plans?

God’s Purpose > My Plans by Stephanie Prayer-Clarke—”For me, planning brings structure and balance. It causes me to stay focused, aiming for particular goals. And while that may be good, planning can also sometimes disguise my wretched want to control.”

Not Afraid of the Storms {Book Club} by Sarah Hilkemann—”Many of us have felt that same ache of loneliness and isolation, and we have uttered those same words. Why am I so downcast?”

The Ups and Downs of Planning by Jenilee Goodwin—”We’re tentatively putting some things on our calendar and with that comes the anxiety, frustrations, unknowns and fears of making plans right now.”

A Prayer for 2021 by the Velvet Ashes Team—”As we gaze at the days and weeks and months ahead, help us to trust you with all of the unknowns.”

Wonder creates a pause.

We might marvel at the miracle of new life at a baby’s first cry. The fireworks of color painted across an open sky as the sun edges over the horizon. The bright green of palm trees and rice fields against the expanse of blue sky as harvest time nears.

But that pause can also pull us down into the murky mire of “what-if”. Our thoughts can run wild as we wonder what might happen, each possible scenario playing out in our minds.

Where are you finding your heart at the start of 2021?

What is filling your soul with wonder right now? Are you delighting in the simple joys and beauty around you? Or is worry clouding your vision and holding on tight to your heart? Perhaps it is a bit of both.

Join us as we explore the wonder of a God who flung the stars in place and cares about our anxious hearts. Share your wonder moments on social media and give us a peek into your lives, right where you are! Use the hashtag #VelvetAshesWonder.
