Have You Seen? {June 20th, 2021}

We have some great themes coming up on the Velvet Ashes blog, and there are spots open for you to submit a post! Check out our Submissions Page for all the details.

Last Week’s Theme: Should I Go?

Marked by a Question by Maria Mullet—”Saul’s showy sacrifice may have been great fanfare, but all God wanted was a heart willing to obey.”

But What If I Fall? {Book Club} by Rachel Kahindi—”On one hand, we can’t ignore negative things in our lives and think happy thoughts all the time. But on the other hand, is processing through grief different from dwelling on negative thoughts in an unhealthy way, letting them drag us down?”

The Clash by Kaitlyn Comer—”Right now, the tickets are still purchased. The plans to go are still in motion. Do we have all the answers? Not at all.”

Everything Changed But Our Plan by Theresa Bloom—”Being rooted in Jesus helps me to face my impending uprooting: I have sincerely loved everywhere I’ve lived, and I’m free to open-handedly love this place, too.”

And Now For Next Week

The theme is…

A cool glass of water, a long stretch of reading with no interruptions, a blast of cold air to fill our lungs. Ahh, refreshment.

What is refreshing your heart, your mind, your body?

Here at Velvet Ashes we will be taking the entire week of June 28-July 3 off. This is a rhythm of Sabbath rest that has flowed through the years and we love it. As we prepare our hearts and minds for this time off the blog and social media, we would love to hear from you!

When you live in a place that feels the opposite of restful and refreshing, what do you do? How do you let your soul exhale?

Share your images this week on social media and let us all sigh with contentment over what is refreshing you. Join us to hear from three women in the community as they share their pursuit of refreshment on the blog.

Let’s write a book together! A long-time dream has been to see a book birthed out of the stories and experiences of the women in this community. And now the opportunity is here. Want to learn more? Click on the image to download our Writer’s Submission Packet!
