I (Amy) have fond memories of my elementary school custodian. He loved to joke around with us kids during lunch. It is only now, as I look back that those lunches were probably the highlight of his day. Being the custodian of the school meant that he worked behind the scenes. He cleaned up after messes. He emptied trashcans after school. He got to school early on winter mornings to shovel the sidewalks.
We tend to use the word “stewardship” in Christian circles more than “custodian.” It sounds cleaner, more refined, doesn’t it?
What does it mean to be a custodian when it comes to your ministry? Your calling? Your family? Your experiences? Your education, wealth, other blessings? Even struggles?
We invite you to join in the discussion this week. Show us on Instagram what you are the custodian of—use #VelvetAshesCustodian. Bring your blog posts to the Grove.
