We’re back! Did you miss us? I missed us.
I missed the encouragement of our posts, and I missed the daily connection with women who live a life like mine.
But the quiet was good. Last week Velvet Ashes took a Sabbath week, a week of no posts, a week to rest. Practicing the discipline of Sabbath makes you realize how important it is. Because when you take time to rest, you come back invigorated. I’m so excited for what’s ahead this summer and beyond at Velvet Ashes.
This week our theme is “Enjoy”…
Today, Liz Talcott kicks off ways to enjoy the summer with Ten Things To Enjoy on a Budget
Tuesday we launch our July books Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo. Enjoy background information and a short video interview with the author.
Wednesday Kayla Rupp inspires us with multiple ways to enjoy our time in the kitchen.
Thursday Occasionally this summer we’ll have a lighter schedule meaning there won’t be a Thursday post. This is one of those weeks.
Friday come to The Grove and share with us on the prompt “Enjoy.” What are you enjoying this summer? What’s holding you back? I’ll be sharing what’s teaching me to see, to stop and delight, even on the foggy days. Come share whatever the word “Enjoy” sparks in you. Link up or share in the comments.
It’s good to be back!

Welcome back! And thank you for all of your hard work to make Velvet Ashes a reality!
Oops! Gosh, didn’t mean to post that ginormous picture of myself! Thought it would appear as the little profile thumbnail! :-/ Sorry about that! 😉
I thought you were posting something about how you ‘ENJOY’ the outdoors! 🙂
Ha! I’ve totally done that too, Kate! ☺️
Thanks for your kind word, Kate. It’s good to be back. And I could delete your picture, but then I’d have to delete your whole comment. So we’re just going to ENJOY your picture, because it’s lovely! 🙂
Thanks for the reminder though. We had better instructions up there at one point, but with an update they got erased. Will make sure the clarifying instructions are put back in there.
The prompt ‘ENJOY’ makes me think of that verse: Taste and see that the Lord is good.
I was just discussing grief with a friend two days ago, and sharing a piece of my past pain brought her hope and inspiration in the midst of her own. It did two things for me. First, in remembering loss and grief, I remember that our days are numbered and precious and want to make the most of them. Good perspective refocus on what really matters. Second, I can look back at years of pain or anxiety (sometimes subconscious) and see how He was working all this for Good. I want to savor it all. And I wouldn’t take those sour or bitter moments out if I could because they make the flavor of the finished process so Good! Moriah Peter’s song ‘You carry me’ came on the radio, and I drove home enjoying Him.
Oh, that’s powerful. The sour and bitter parts of our life make the flavor of the finished process good. Never thought of it quite like that before. Thanks for that thought.
And I’ll have to check out that song!
I serve overseas and have been on the field now for 2 years and 9 months. Needless to say, I’ve faced rough days. This week I have ENJOYED our Ladies Time here where I live. Fortunately, there are 5 of us ladies serving/living in the same town. We make a point to meet each week and share how the Lord is speaking to our hearts, our struggles and times of encouragement. We also spend time digging into the Word. This weekly meeting has become a precious, precious time to each of us as we sometimes soar, but many days struggle to live and serve in a third world country! I ENJOY time with these ladies!!
