Kayla is a born and raised Midwest girl who transplanted from a town of 14,000 in South Dakota to a slightly larger urban of over a million in Minneapolis for college. After hearing countless stories about life abroad from her grandparents who are retired missionaries, Kayla decided to venture out of the continental United States and move thousands of miles away in July 2013, three months after graduating from college, settling in a city of ten million in the middle of China. She teaches at a small international school, and when she’s not teaching, she enjoys exploring Asia and finding the next great tofu dish China has to offer. Catch up with her online on her blog: acommonsojourner.wordpress.com.
