“Reflect” is a gentle invitation to pause. To breathe. To look back with grace, not judgment. In the flurry of cross-cultural life—filled with transition, demands, and the unknown—reflection creates sacred space to notice what God has been doing in us and around us. It’s a time to remember, to name what we’ve learned, grieved, celebrated, or simply survived.
But reflection is also about mirroring. As we are shaped by Christ, we reflect his light to those around us—in quiet conversations, acts of service, and the way we choose presence over performance. Like looking into still water, reflection shows us what’s stirring below the surface and what is being revealed through our lives.
This month, we invite you to pause and reflect. What do you see? Is God showing you something right now? What might the world see of him in you?
As we practice reflection this month, we will also take time for Sabbath. This is an annual rhythm here at Velvet Ashes, where, for one week, there won’t be a blog post or any social media activity. This built-in practice gives all of us an opportunity to pause. Our Sabbath week will be July 20–26.
