The February book is The Piano Tuner, so this month’s themes are inspired by this book.
Why is he going to tune the piano deep in the jungles of Burma? Stating the obvious, because it is out of tune.
We know what beautiful melodies our lives and work can make. But we also know the discord that can be experienced in us and with those around.
Sometimes the discord is unexpected. As we grow to know and love another culture, we might feel out of place in our own. This can be especially disorienting when people you used to “get” without question, haven’t grown to see the world the way you do.
Or maybe ministry life isn’t quite as glamorous or interesting as you thought.
Or God seems silent.
What do we do with the discord we experience? We trust that God is bigger and so we talk about it and anticipate the ways that he is going to work in and through us this week.
