After the cost has been named and the weight of it has settled into our bones, after we’ve traced the quiet toll of this life, a question rises.
What now?
Not in a problem-solving way or with a “make it worth it” kind of urgency.
But in the way a tired soul wonders where to turn next.
We live in a world that measures return in visible outcomes—impact, growth, numbers, fruit we can point to and report back. It’s easy to carry that framework into our calling, to look for evidence that the cost is paying off.
But the invitation of God is often more inward than that.
“In returning and rest you shall be saved;
in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15 (ESV)
It is in the slow, often reluctant turning of our hearts back toward God that we move away from striving, proving, and the need to make sense of everything we carry.
It is choosing rest when urgency feels louder. Trust when outcomes feel unclear. Quietness when the world (and our own thoughts) keep demanding more.
Are you willing to stop, loosen your grip, and find strength in this posture of trust?
This month, we will follow our annual rhythm of taking a Sabbath week. We won’t have any social media posts or blogs the week of July 19–25. We hope you will join us for a week of rest.
