The grass is always greener.

It’s a matter of perspective.

The way the light hits her hills.

Always greener, richer, fuller.

And yet I am here. Hungry.

Dry, brown, dead blades

Crunch under my boots

My old, worn, hard boots

Yet, I walk on.

Could her life one day be mine?

If I persevere, smile, chin up

Convince myself and everyone else

This is a good path too

Could this path lead to that green

Will life spring forth here?

Jealousy comes down to perspective

Where has my vision been cast?

Where are my eyes set?

What do I see through my limited view?

Longing is a part of it.

What do I truly wish for?

What do I think is good?

Enough? Plenty?

Help us, Jesus! Help me!

Perspective.

I long for Your eyes.

Your heart.

Your perspective and persuasion

Your desires and delight

I cast my jealous heart upon You.

I do not heed her way when You Yourself are The Way.

I do not need, long for those hills,

When You’ve set my feet on these low lands.

Desire is good and right.

You set my desire on You, Lord

Not on her way, her success, her bounty

I cast my jealous soul upon You

Every desire, hope, longing, dream

In my casting, would You catch me?

Let me settle deeply and fully into Your embrace

Let me be fully here.

Present

Peaceful

Not longing for more or greener or greater

Just here.

In my place

On this path

In these old boots

With You.
