Kicking Off Retreat Week

Kicking Off Retreat Week

It’s here! We’re officially kicking off retreat week here at Velvet Ashes. This is the first time we’ve ever offered a retreat in October. We are absolutely thrilled with how many of you are joining us for this all-new Unplugged Retreat. We’re inviting everyone to retreat wherever you are for one day this coming week so you can join us live for the debrief webinar Monday Oct 12 9amEST.

It’s not too late to join us! If you can’t retreat this coming weekend, access remains open for 30 days until November 13. You’ll be able to watch the recording of the debrief webinar.

Join us for this incredible time of renewal.

Now can I dive in with a little introduction to our retreat theme? If we were in person, you’d be seeing my eyes light up right now, because the richness of this makes me glow.

When you hear the phrase “Here I am” you likely think of the banner verse for cross-cultural workers.

Isaiah 6:8 “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am. Send me!’”

Raise your virtual hand if this verse was in some way part of your journey to becoming a cross-cultural worker. Did you know how many other significant moments in Scripture also contain the “Here I am” phrase?

Here are a few…

  • Genesis 22 – Abraham told to sacrifice Isaac
  • Genesis 31 – Jacob told to return to his homeland
  • Exodus 3 – Moses at the burning bush
  • 1 Samuel 3 – God calls Samuel
  • Acts 9 – Ananius told to go to Saul

During our Unplugged Retreat, we’re discovering what it means to say, “Here I am” to God. You’re invited to come and sit (or crash) at the feet of Jesus, saying simply “Here I am.”

You’ll be given space to process with him where you are spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically.  You’ll go on a personal, interactive journey through Scripture to uncover the richness that awaits. Then you’ll bask in the breath-taking, soul-filling response that God has for you when you say, “Here I am.”

For so many of us in our community, “here” is not where we expected to be right now. For many of us, “here” is not where we long to be. And yet, here we are. Have you had the time and space to process with God? What is his invitation for you in this season?

Wherever “here” is for you, wherever your heart is at, we hope you’ll sense Jesus’ invitation to you – “Come away with me to a quiet place.” We know he’ll meet you in that space and speak to your soul.

This coming Thursday at 9pmEST, we are meeting on Zoom to pray for the Unplugged Retreat and for everyone participating. If you’d like to join us for this time, email us (info at velvetashes dot com) and we will send you the link. If you’d like for us to pray specifically for you, we would really love to do that. Please leave your requests in the comments here or email us, and we will pray for you.
