He washed their feet. He wept the anguished tears. He drank the cup. He took the blows. Suspended on the cross, He died in our stead. He shed the grave clothes and stood up to take His place of glory.
Do you ever wonder how Jesus remembers the Passion Week? What are His thoughts as He looks back? Has He thought the same thoughts all 2,000 anniversaries of His death and resurrection?
The Hosannas, the Last Supper, the last conversations with friends, the kiss of betrayal, the unjust arrest, the false accusations, the crowing rooster, the barbed crown, the mocking, the stripping, the horror of crucifixion, the last breath.
How does He remember these?
I like to think Hebrews 12:2 gives us a hint. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Champion on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.
This week our theme is Remember. May you be reminded daily of His love and commitment to you, demonstrated so clearly and conclusively during the Passion Week long ago. We will see you on Thursday (6 pm EST) at The Grove as we gather around the theme Remember.
