The Grove Word Prompt: Neglect

There’s an unruly vine creeping up the back fence, its tentacles climbing over the electricity wires that hang low and messy. Most days the sun is blazing and my energy wanes, but if I don’t look out the door off the kitchen, I can pretend nothing is happening.

Then suddenly the neighbor is at the gate to complain about the foliage with a mind of its own that is now so entangled with those wires it could cause major electrical issues.

Sometimes we don’t mean to leave things unattended, but then it gets easier to just let them go. It might be the greenery in our back yard, or the relationship that needs reconciliation. Maybe it’s been so long since we sat in the presence of Jesus with quiet and no agenda than to start again, feels impossible.

This is a place where we can be honest as we take time to reflect and examine. Is there something or someone that the Father is gently pointing out you’ve been neglecting? Are the vines and brambles taking over, either literally in your yard or figuratively in your heart? Come allow us to walk this journey with you this week in the comments, or as we end the week together at The Grove.
