The Grove Prompt: Story

As we begin our fall series based on Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero, we’ll start with our stories.

I love that God has woven the very language of story into the Bible, using a beginning, a middle, and an end.

In the beginning …

In the last days ….

And we are here, in the middle of God’s story for our lives. There are tragedies,  adventures stories, feel good stories, rom-com, and let’s not forget horror stories. We see all of these playing out in the world today and in our lives.

I was reading today in Soul Keeping by John Ortberg how the soul needs gratitude. I don’t know what your story is, but can we start this week by being grateful that God loves stories, loves to tell stories, and is at work in your story. I’ll be honest that it’s hard to say I’m grateful for all parts of my story, and I think that’s okay. But I can say, I am grateful to know that God can use all parts of my story and that as I find safe places to share, He meets me there.

This is our hope for the week: that you are able to own your story and God meets you there.

Come share your story with us at The Grove beginning on Thursday, 6 pm US EST to share your own journey and insights as we gather around the theme of Story.
